Organizer Purses: Getting The Inside
Of Your Purse Organized

Utilize the general organizing procedure of purge, sort and store and use it when organizing the inside of your purse.


PURGE:

• Empty your purse onto a table or a surface. Pick up ONE item at a time and decide if it is worth keeping. In order to accomplish this, ask yourself appropriate questions (Is this trash that I left in my purse? Is this lip gloss good any more? Do I use this item enough for it to live in my purse? Does this item need to be put somewhere else?).
  
  
• As you make decisions, put the item in the corresponding pile, bag or box - Keep, Distribute, Trash.
  
  
• Throw away the garbage and distribute the items that belong elsewhere.

SORT:

• Now that you have gotten rid of all the unnecessary things, the focus is on what's left. Divide up what remains into categories - like goes with like (i.e. beauty products, gum & mints, feminine products, pens & small tools).

STORE:

• Usually purses will only have 1 or 2 pockets, so store each category of items in a small pouch and then put it in your purse. If you have a pocket on the outside of the purse, consider utilizing that for items you frequently use.
  
  
• Save money by simply reusing pouches from toiletries or jewelry for this. You can also use small Ziploc bags.
  
  
• Another option is to buy an organizing product made specifically for conquering the mess inside of your purse (see below for purse insert organizer product suggestions).

MAINTAIN:

• Get into the habit of ridding your purse of the day's trash and/or items that needs to get distributed elsewhere on a daily basis.
  
  
• Once a month or so, clean out your purse completely. Take everything out, pitch the trash, put items back in their proper pouches and so on. If you change your purse every few months, then that is a great time to do this purge.

STORE:

• Now that your purses are sorted, store them in your closet or room accordingly. For example, put all of your clutches in a bin on a shelf in your closet.

MAINTAIN:

• Ripped purse? Stained purse? A very used purse? If you know you're no longer going to use it, give it away. Don't let it take up space in your closet.
  
  
• A few times a year, go through your purses and get rid of the ones you no longer want or can use. This is a good practice to get into when the seasons change (i.e. from winter to spring and summer to fall).
