How can I repurpose an old desk?

by A.
(NYC, NY)

Question:
I have a heavy desk with 6 drawers that is not being used. Do you have any ideas as to how I can reuse it?

Answer:
Absolutely! First and foremost, I have to ask if the desk is necessary in your home at all. If it doesn't have a use and you aren't attached to it for sentimental (or any other) reasons, then my initial suggestion is to give it away to someone who needs it more.

Now that being said, if you do not want to part with it, then there are definitely some great ways to repurpose it...

You can use it as a gift wrapping station. The top of the desk can be the flat surface for wrapping presents, and the drawers can hold all the supplies (wrapping paper, ribbons and bows, tape, scissors, etc.).

You could also use it as a craft center. The top of the desk can be the flat surface for scrapbooking or sewing projects or what have you, and the drawers can hold all of the supplies (fabrics, tools, etc.).

Another idea is to use it as a vanity. Put a magnifying mirror on the flat surface of the desk, and all of your supplies (cosmetics, hair accessories, etc.) in the drawers.

There are so many ways to reuse a desk, I could keep on going! Think about yourself: who you are, what you do on a regular basis, what you need, what could be of benefit. Then repurpose the desk to enhance your routines.
